Description

This is the little snippet I imagine going with this.

"By the mane, where are they?!" High King Peter boomed as he paced a familiar path before the four thrones of Cair Paravel.

"Be calm brother. They'll get here." his sister, Gentle Queen Susan replied, calming a few of the country's ladies; a hen, two cats and a nymph, after her brother's loud outburst.

"They were supposed to be here some time ago!"

"Something will have held them up. You know Edmund can easily get wrapped up in his studying and Lucy can never resist dancing as long as she can." Queen Susan answered again, having to break off from telling Fildas, one of the feline queens with her, how a dance happening the next day should be ordered to do so.

"They still should be able to meet appointments on time! Just imagine if this was a foreign dignitary, they would have offended him irrevocably by now!"

"Yes but Peter, its not. Its you." Queen Susan pointed out, again breaking off from choosing from the offered selections of flowers Anthea, the nymph, showed to her.

"So their High King, and more importantly, older brother, is important than dignitaries?!"

"No, no, no. Oh no, Klara, I was speaking to the High King, salmon sounds lovely." Susan started, before having to reassure the hen cook that her selections for the menu were sound, "Ah, no, Peter, its just that you are their older brother, you'll forgive them for being late."

"Oh, I will, will I?" this comment from the King was more noticeable than the others because it was muttered rather than shouted.

Of course, it got his sister's attention straight away. She whirled towards him. "Of course you will! Peter!"

"Okay, okay!" he said, holding his hands up in the universal sign of surrender. "Yes I forgive our younger siblings for being late."

"Oh, you do?! Excellent, I didn't even need to ask! Hello Peter, Su, how have your days been?" said the newly arrived golden Valiant Queen, Lucy as she breezed into the room, kissed her brother on the cheek and grabbed her sister's hand to squeeze while saying her words at a breakneck pace. "I've had a truly excellent morning, the fawns and satyrs were having leaping competitions! They were fantastic and I had to judge who was the highest, but of course it was so hard to do from the ground so they offered to see who could leap highest carrying me too and-" Lucy continued on, heedless of her oldest brother's darkening face.

"Hold on a minute Lu, just how many fauns and satyrs have hurled you 7 foot up into the air?"

"They weren't throwing her Peter, simply jumping. Oh thank you Lady Southpaw, I would be most grateful if you could inform the musicians-"

"And once I had declared that Cedar was the highest jumper he begged the honour of a dance with me as a prize and what could I do but accept-"

"Lucy, please! Its not safe to go so high with the satyrs, it might be easy for them to come down uninjured but what if you had-"

"Oh thank the Lion. I do love our subjects but everything does seem to happen at once. Oh well, everyone seems to know what they are doing for the dance now. What were you saying Lu?"

"Your majesty, your majesty, your majesty!" came from a red blur running along the throne room, heading straight for the Gentle Queen, though managing to almost trip the happily spinning Valiant one and actually trip the High King.

"OW!"

"Oh, hello Pattertwig! Oh dear, Peter, are you alright? I'm sure Pattertwig didn't mean to cause you to fall. What is it my dear little one, did your mother find her nut store?"

"Come on Peter, let me help you up. It was rather funny, you falling like that, especially as there are always lots of our smaller cousins on the ground when we dance with the fauns and the satyrs but no one ever seems to fall-"

"Looks like she's off again Pete."

"Yes Ed, she can talk about those dances for hours. Wait, when did you get here?!"

"About the time the portraitist got away. Wasn't this supposed to be a formal portrait?" the Just King inquired disinterestedly. His nose was already back in his book.

Cue Peter groaning and leaning on Susan as he looks at his younger siblings in despair.

Ha ha ha, I imagine Peter and Susan must become very parent-like to the younger two and the ones everyone naturally runs to for the day-to-day running of the Kingdom. Its gotta be fun to balance that! Of course, Lucy and Ed would help a lot but sometimes dancing and reading are just more fun!

The Kings and Queens of the Golden Age belong to C. S Lewis
Pattertwig, Fildas, Anthea, Klara and Lady Southpaw belong to me.
